Obituary

Obituary for Bernice O Crews

On Friday, June 12, 2020, Bernice Olive (Firme) Crews passed away peacefully at home in Arvada, Colorado, at the age of 87.

Bernice was born on September 1, 1932 in Hastings, Nebraska, to Francis and Alvina Firme. She was married to Ted George in 1951. Two children, Gus Theodore George and Constance Jo George, were born of this union. She was later married to Hu Crews, and together they resided in Kerrville, Texas.

Bernice was a kind, caring and strong woman who loved fiercely. She loved working at First National Bank in Kerrville and especially enjoyed singing in the choir at the First Baptist Church. She was an avid walker, golfer, quilter, and chronicler of family history through scrapbooks. She rooted for the Denver Broncos even while living in Dallas Cowboys' country! She loved her cat Socks and was especially excited in January to meet the newest member of the family, Boone the horse!

Bernice was preceded in death by her father Francis, her mother Alvina, her son Gus, her husband Hu, and by her siblings, Ardyce Pitke, Virginia Dearen, Laverne Firme, Jerry Firme, Bob Firme, and Donald Firme.

Bernice is survived by her daughter Conni of Arvada, Colorado and by her beloved family members; her sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She loved her family, her friends, her country and God.

As was Bernice's wish, she will be buried Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Arvada Cemetery. Her wish was for a simple graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite animal charity or to the music ministry at First Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas, in her name.

May her memory be eternal.
