Obituary

Obituary for Brandon Michael Sheats

Brandon Michael Sheats was born in Denver Colorado on January 13, 1982 to Tim and Helena Sheats. He grew up in Morrison Colorado, and attended elementary, middle and high school in Lakewood.

Brandon’s love of dogs began with the family dog, a golden retriever named “Triever”. His love for his “pups” continued to grow, finally including his constant companions Thor and Tiberius.

When it came to sports he was a natural on the basketball court. He spent time on the slopes with friends skiing as well as snowboarding. On his family’s annual trips to Mexico he was at home in the water and learned to snorkel and scuba dive. He LOVED the outdoors, backpacking on the Flattops, hiking and camping in the beautiful Colorado Mountains.

At the age of 15 he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In recent months Brandon was making an effort to renew his relationship with Jehovah God, seeking help to do so. As his health was declining, this brought him peace and reassurance.

He was a hard-working young man and helped with his family’s lawn mowing/aerating service for many summers.

As an adult he moved to the Castle Rock Colorado area. His love of cooking was evident by the variety of spices he kept, and always looking for a new recipe to try. Some of his specialties were eggs benedict, chicken pot pie, and baking cookies. Just weeks prior to his death, he had even deep-fried a turkey with Cajun seasoning and all the trimmings!

He lived a pretty simple life, working at Century Link for 18 years as a Cable Technician, to support his passion for the outdoors and his dogs.

Brandon was admitted to hospice care on Saturday November 23 and died on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at home with his family in Arvada Colorado.

Brandon was a thoughtful and caring young man. His generosity and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him. Brandon’s big heart was very evident, making the number of dear friends too numerous to list, some of whom he considered to be his family.

Brandon was loved SO MUCH and will be missed more than words can say...

I’m sad that I was unable to attend the memorial service for Brandon but know he is back with his family and hopefully celebrating life! Brandon was a big part of my early teens and will never forget all the time we spent together. Brandon was a true friend and would give the shirt off his back to whoever was in need, such a great guy and friend. I hope his memorial was everything he deserved! Thank you to the family and close friends that helped in this time.

I’m privileged to have called Brandon Sheat’s a close friend and a Brother! Even though I was a year older then Brandon, I did look up to him as he was one of the smartest people I’ve meet. The things I remember the most about Brandon is his love for reading and always beating me at Madden Football. I will miss the great camping and snowboarding trips Joe and I planned with Brandon every year. Brandon was always been there for me and had such a big hart. The three amigos are now down to two, but its goodbye for now, because I will see you in the new systems my friend!

I am grateful for having met Brandon. I enjoyed, though very briefly, his great sense of humor and our exchange of cooking ideas. You could tell he was a very kind, genuine, loving person, which doesn’t surprise me as his family, my close friends, are the same way. I’m grateful he was with his family that loved him so much during those last days. It is my desire to see him again, get to really know him and enjoy to the full what so many of his friends and family had the privilege of knowing. I may also like to engage in a little cooking competition! 😊 My condolences to all that knew him well and loved him. It is clear by all the posts he was a great guy and I can’t wait to know him well as you all had the privilege of knowing him. Until we meet again.😘

Uncle Kurt

When Brandon was very little, he couldn't say Grandpa, but he could say Crappa. So, Grandpa John was "Crappa John" to Brandon, and of course, the name caught on with the whole family! As many know, Brandon also loved basketball. Crappa John, in his high school days, was the star of the Rexford Bulldogs basketball team. When the end was pretty close, among other things, I told Brandon that I wanted to see him and "Crappa John" play some one on one B-ball in the new system!
And yes, if I can be there, I intend to make sure the name "Crappa John" sticks....FOREVER!!!

I’m so sorry that you’ve had this loss. I did not know Brandon, however what you have shared here in his obituary, I see that he certainly enjoyed life. What exquisite delight you will enjoy when all of you embrace him in your waiting arms.
