Ordway, Christy
Christy Lee Garrison Ordway passed away on 2/8/2019 after a hard fought battle with breast cancer. Born in 1955 in Denver, CO, she attended Alameda High School and earned her Bachelors degree in Child Psychology at Metropolitan State College of Denver. She met John Ordway in 1973 and married on Christmas Eve, 1976. Among her many careers, Christy worked as a dispatcher for the Lakewood Police Department and as a flight attendant for Frontier Airlines. Her many volunteer roles included Girl Scout troop leader and President for the PTA at Shrine of Saint Anne's Catholic School in Arvada.
Christy had a passion for travel, visiting exotic places like Tahiti and the Mediterranean, and enjoyed fine dining. Her patronage for the arts was shown in her membership to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, spanning several decades. She had an active lifestyle, enjoyed skiing, hiking, and spending time with her friends across the country. Her love for her grandsons knew no limits, and she spent much of her later years exploring Colorado with them.

She is survived by her mother Dolores Garrison (Las Vegas, NV), her husband John (Arvada, CO), her daughter Kathryn Ordway (Lakewood, CO) and son-in-law Chris Howell, and grandsons Kyle Garrett Howell and Grayston Ordway Howell. She was preceded in death by her son Kyle Ordway and grandson Cayden.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Christy's memory are most welcome to the Kyle Ordway Memorial Foundation at the Keystone Science School.

Her love for life, courageous spirit, strength, and beautiful smile will always remain in our hearts.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Aspen Mortuaries, 1350 Simms Street, Lakewood, CO 80401.

My condolences to the entire family for your loss. Although Christy and I had not interacted in recent years, a shared friend kept me in the loop. I knew Christy through our mutual work history where our paths seemed to crisscross every few years, and for a time we lived in close proximity. Those were the years we spent more time together. She will be remembered as a good soul and may she rest in peace.

My condolences to the Ordway Family. No doubt this is a very difficult time. Psalms 94:19 says "When anxieties overwhelmed me, you comfort and soothed me. Our loving God promises to give you the strength to cope with this loss you are experiencing and he promises to hold your hand every step of the way. (Isaiah 61:10 and Jeremiah 29:11,12.) May the resurrection promise Jesus spoke about give you peace and hope today and the days ahead (John 5:28-29)

Our sympathies and prayers are with Katy and Chris and the Ordway family. Christy loved and guided Katy through her life. The entire family including our Grandsons Garrett and Grayston have been blessed to have had Christy in their lives. Love You All, Linda and Charlie Fry

I had only a few opportunities to interact and get to know Christy - but one thing that was made my heart smile was the love she had for her grand kids. It was obvious they hung the moon for her. I was blessed to see where Katy, my sister in law, gets her sassy and spunky personality from - her mom! I am sad that Christy will not get to share in the earthly joys her grandsons will experience but I know, without a doubt, that those boys have someone in heaven watching over them and smiling. I wish we could be at the service and I pray that the love felt for Christy is shared and that those present are celebrating her life. Love you Katy.

John, Katie, Chris, Garrett, & Gray,
Christy will be missed by all of us. She was and will always be my dearly beloved friend and "little sister" I never had. I am going to miss more than words can express but I will still have all of you. We are just a phone call away and will always be there for all of you. Our love and prayers are with you.
