Print
Clarence G. Johnsen, Jr., passed away peacefully on November 10, 2018, in Westminster, CO, at the age of 99.
Clarence was born in Milwaukee, WI, where he attended public school. He later attended college at St. Olaf College in MN. Before he could graduate, he left school and joined the US Army during World War II. Clarence married Doleene Billingsley in 1943. Clarence was stationed, as a Staff Sergeant, in London, during the dark days of the German Blitz. Following the end of the war, Clarence was discharged and he and Doleene returned to MN, where he finished his college education and received his Bachelor’s Degree.

During his long, professional career, Clarence worked primarily in one aspect or another of public service, including The American Red Cross, US Department of Health, Education and Welfare, The National Academy of Science and the US Department of Transportation, from which he retired in 1985.

Clarence was a great son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by his brother, Roger; his sons, Clarence, III, and Greg and his daughters-in-law, Kay and Sherry. He is also survived by his grandsons Nick; Greg, Jr., and Nate and by three step-grandsons, Timothy, Paul and Aaron. Clarence is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Mason, Riley and Violet, and by step-great-grandchildren, Selah and Shiloh. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Inga, and by his wife, Doleene, and his second wife, Barbara.

Clarence loved his black coffee, clam chowder, golf, good conversation and listening to great music. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Rest In Peace, Dad. Yours was certainly a life well lived.
