Obituary

Donald Eugene Roach, age 90, of Arvada, Colorado peacefully entered eternal rest on February 20, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital from complications of pneumonia. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many in the Denver area. Don was born May 24, 1930, as 'David Ogden' at the Colorado Children's Home and was adopted as an infant by Henry and Mabel Roach. He attended East High School and upon graduation, enlisted in the Navy, serving aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Antietam in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned home to Denver and worked for a short time in the plumbing trade. In 1958 he went to work for the Denver Post newspaper as a distribution manager and he spent the next 62 years working for the Post in various capacities.

Don is survived by his spouse of 67 years, Mary Reid Roach of Arvada, son Kim (Joanna) of Rocky Ford, Colorado, and a grandson that he and Mary raised, Jeremy Roach of Denver. He is also survived by his sister Patsy (Joe) Pazzin of Arvada, four other grandchildren, Joelle, Danielle, Peter and Ociee Roach of Rocky Ford and two nieces, Pamela (Bill) Weege of Lucas, Texas and Ginger (Karlin) Giltner of Arvada. Don was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Memorial service is to be announced at a later date. To honor Don's memory, please consider donating in his name to the Salvation Army or the Arvada Presbyterian Church.

My condolences to the Roach family. I delivered the Denver Post when I was in Junior High School for 3 years and Don was my district manager. We had a promotion selling magazine subscriptions to our customers and I was top sales person in Colorado.
The Denver Post awarded me a trip to Disneyland and a special bonus to Don. Don was a great person and enjoyed knowing him.
