Dorothy Mae Straughn
Dorothy Mae Eider was born on August 21, 1933 to Fred and Augusta Eider in the small farming town of Arvilla, North Dakota. She was the youngest of eight siblings. When her mother passed away, Dorothy was adopted by the Eider's good friends, Horace and Margaret Woods. Eventually, the Woods' moved to Indiana, where Dorothy grew up on a chicken farm. She absolutely loved her horse Isa Belle, and rode her on a daily basis.
Dorothy graduated from Madison Township High School in 1951, the same year she met William Straughn. They were married on July 7, 1953. Together, they had four children: Laurie Lynne, Vickie Jean, Kenneth William and Kristie Kay (deceased). They were divorced in 1972, with William moving to Chicago while Dorothy remained in Denver.
Dorothy was happiest surrounded by family and friends, until her passing at age 86 from various physical ailments and the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
The family hopes you would consider making a donation to your local horse rescue in her memory, and thanks you all so much for your many expressions of condolence and prayers
