Obituary for Harold Gill Fuller

Harold Gill Fuller
Passed- December 16, 2019 - Born- February 12, 1928
Resided in Golden, CO

Gill Fuller, 91, passed away December 16, 2019. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold John Fuller, his mother, Audi Cleo Gill, his sister, Margret Fuller, his wife, Barbara Fuller (Fink), his former wife, Martha J. Fuller (Mitchell), and his son, Thomas A. Fuller.
He is survived by his daughter Linda (Stan) Russell, stepdaughter Julie (Tom) Brockway Hunsaker, stepson Joseph (Julie) Brockway, eight grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Harold Gill Fuller was a good man, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gill had a passion for historical railroads, train engines, historical printing presses, and all things electrical and mechanical. His work was mostly fabricated, and hand made by him using hand tools. He loved building things by hand for his 1800’s farmhouse in Michigan. Gill loved to tell stories of anything historical, loved a good joke, and a good pun. “Dad jokes,” as we would call them. He gave us all his wisdom, even when we couldn’t comprehend. He was one of the smartest men I’ve ever known, and he didn’t have google!

Gill and his parents owned and operated a family newspaper, called the East Lansing Press. Gill worked with his parents there while attending college at Michigan State from 1945-1949, graduating with a bachelor's in electrical engineering. He entered the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War from 1950- 1952 as a Sargent. He then entered the reserves for 5 years until 1958.

He moved to Colorado and took a position as Head Engineer for Keebler Cookie Company from 1960 to 1990. He dedicated his time and was a respected volunteer at the Colorado Railroad Museum from 1973 to 2018. He had his hand in almost all things locomotive and electrical, as well as the entire telegraph setup. In recent years he was working on the Kliss Railroad in hopes of gathering information for a museum in upper Michigan. He also built and placed a telegraph system for the Heritage Village Historical Society in Mackinac City, Michigan. He supplied them with a handmade signal switch in hopes of building a small replica railroad station there. He fabricated and build from scratch a railroad hand pump car that will be placed at the Silverton Railroad in Colorado.

He gave a lot and asked for nothing in return. He will be sorely missed, and I know he is now engineering the big locomotive in the sky. Rest in Peace Dad.
