Obituary

James (Jim) A. Smith passed away peacefully in Littleton, CO on November 26, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Born and raised in Arvada, CO he was a 1965 graduate of Arvada West High School. He married in 1968 and moved to Nebraska in 1973. He settled in Akron, CO, in 1979 where he raised two children, worked for a beer distribution company, Western Truck Parts, volunteered in the local fire department, and was an active member of the Elks Lodges in both Akron and Arvada, CO.

Jim found success working in the trucking industry for nearly 35 years. An industry that he loved. He will always be remembered by friends and family for his sense of humor, love of golf, generosity of spirit, and love of his family. Outgoing and with a love of meeting people, he could turn any gathering into a fantastic party.

He was preceded in death by mother Alice and father James Smith of Arvada and brother, Ernie Smith. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Smith; daughter Sonja Smith-deBord (Tim deBord) of Loveland, CO; son Timothy Smith (Julie Smith) of Windsor, CO; and grandchildren Dillon, Samantha, and Ryan de Bord of Loveland, CO; Tristen and Trevor Smith of Windsor, CO; and by his sister, Jolora Hatch (Bill Hatch) of Wheat Ridge, CO.
