Obituary for Kenneth Piel

Kenneth E. Piel of Arvada, Colorado passed away August 10, 2019 at Vibra Hospital of Denver.
Services were held at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada, Colorado on August 16, 2019 with Rev. Tim Lindeman officiating.
An additional Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held this fall in the Blue Hill, Nebraska area at a future date to be announced.
Instead of flowers contributions may be made in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org), (800) 533-CURE (2873), JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY10004

Ken Piel was born January 26, 1947 to Donald (Bud) and Norma Piel in Hastings Nebraska. He grew up with five brothers and a big sister on their farm in Nebraska.. He attended school in Blue Hill, Nebraska graduating high school in 1965.
He entered the US Army shortly after graduation and then the US Army reserves until he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. He attended Central Nebraska Technical College in Hastings earning a degree in computer science. He pursued that career path until the late 1980s when he followed his passion for brewing beer and started Lonetree Brewing, LTD in Denver, CO, His Country Cream Ale won the gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 1993.

He is survived by his wife, Roz in Arvada, CO, son Dan (Jen) in Arvada, CO and Seth (Beth) in Mason, WI. Four grand children and many other relatives and friends.
