Kenneth Gordon Watson of Arvada, Colorado passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018.
He was born on April 2nd, 1940 in Omaha, NE. He was reunited with his parents Luella Kaufman and Gordon Watson, and his sister Beverly Jean Taylor.
As a child, Ken loved sports and was especially talented in baseball and basketball. His dad worked for the railroad and Ken was fortunate to go on many adventures with him, gaining the nickname “my shadow.”
In his younger years, Ken worked as an umpire, a mailman, a railroad iron worker, playground director, and at rural schoolhouse. He found his passion though in teaching. He received his bachelors and masters in elementary education in Omaha, NE. Ken started his teaching career in Nebraska but was married and moved to the beautiful state of Colorado in 1968. Ken was a beloved history teacher at Arvada West High School from 1968-1998.
He loved skiing, camping, and most of all he loved family. Ken took many vacations to Mexico, Costa Rica, and when he retired in 1998, he traveled to London. He loved making people smile and joking with them.
Ken is survived by his daughter Beth Erika (Watson) Neuhalfen of Broomfield, CO, son Christopher Michael Watson of Ft. Collins, CO, niece Nancy Vidana of Kona, HI. He is also survived by the lights of his life; his grandsons Andrew (22), Noah (19), Jason (17), and Samuel (12).
He will be greatly missed by his friends and family and would want everyone to have a beer for him! Please leave your memory as it makes us smile.
