Obituary for Kirt Scott Snyder

On Saturday, April 10, 2021, Kirt Scott Snyder, 41, passed away in Arvada, Colorado after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. He left this world surrounded by the love of his family.
Kirt was born on April 10, 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard and Colleen Snyder. He graduated from Olympus High School in Salt Lake City in 1998 and then continued his education in Colorado, graduating from Colorado School of Mines in 2006 with a degree in Geological Engineering. After Kirt graduated from college he worked as a Production Engineer for Energen Resources in Farmington, New Mexico. In 2014 he moved back to Arvada, Colorado to work for Bill Barrett Corporation, which later became High Point Resources.
It was in Colorado that he met the love of his life, Taylor Marie Shearer. In 2004, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Zayleah Irene. Kirt and Taylor married on June 23, 2006 and in 2008 welcomed a son to their family, Jack Raymond.
Kirt often said that having children was the best thing that ever happened in his life and he loved every minute he spent with Zayleah and Jack. He encouraged their creativity, musical talent, hobbies and education.
Kirt enjoyed hiking, working on his Jeep, rock crawling, cheering for the Chicago Bears, camping, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He started playing the guitar when he was thirteen and loved playing music with his friends. His favorite places were Kauai, Hawaii where he spent his honeymoon. Goblin Valley, Utah and Moab, Utah where he spent countless vacations and celebrations.
Kirt is survived by his wife; Taylor, his daughter; Zayleah, his son; Jack, his parents; Colleen Snyder, Richard and Lisa Snyder, brother; Lucas Snyder (Amanda Sampson), sister; Sherry Snyder, grandmother; Nadine Snyder and Mother-in-Law; Edie Shearer.
A memorial service for Kirt will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday; April 22, 2021, at Aspen Mortuary 6370 Union St., Arvada, Colorado with a reception for family and friends from 6-8 p.m. There will also be a memorial service on Sunday; May 2, 2021 at Lone Peak South Outdoor Pavilion 10140 S 700 E Sandy, UT 84070 from 1-4 p.m.

Kirty was my best buddy when we were little. Riding bikes and skateboards, climbing trees, throwing snowballs at cars and hiding (shhhh....!) so many great memories. My deepest condolences to all those who love him and of course to Rick, Colleen, Luke and Sherry. Sending you all my love and thoughts. Love Holly Oldroyd

Kirt was a happy, fun kid growing up. I always enjoyed having him around even though he was several years younger. It is very sad to see him go this way. My heart felt sympathy goes out to his awesome parents Rick and Colleen, to Luke and to his own family who I don't know, but I am sure was very blessed to have him for the short time they did. My deepest respect and prayers of comfort to you all.
