Monte Kershner passed away on January 17, 2019 after years battling several chronic respiratory conditions. He was 83.
Monte was born February 16, 1935 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Ray and Willa Kershner. In September 1962 he married Madelyn M. Weinel in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Monte is survived by Madelyn, his wife of 56 years; his son, Todd; and his daughter, Kendall, as well as his son-in-law, Joe Rice, and three grandchildren, Harrison, Alexandria, and Dalton.
Monte grew up in Saint Louis, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia after proudly serving four years in the U.S. Navy. In recent years he traveled often to Quincy, Massachusetts to join his USS Salem shipmates to form a work party and relive cherished memories.
Over the years Monte lived with his family in Salt Lake City and Denver, where his family still resides.
At Monte's request there was a private family gathering at Aspen Mortuary followed by a traditional military burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery, thanks to the All Veterans Honor Guard.
