Obituary

Obituary for Patricia Ann Conable

Patricia Ann Conable (Young) was born on October 10, 1934 to Eleanor Howe & Rawson Young of Ulysses, Pennsylvania. She grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania called Gold. Her father didn’t play a part in her life, but her mother and aunts, Sarah & Esther, poured into her life helping her become the wonderful woman she was.
Patricia studied nursing at Houghton College and became a registered nurse. Although she played the piano and loved music, she didn’t choose music as her major in college. She chose nursing instead. When asked why she chose nursing, her answer was because she loved helping people, and her family would agree that she was good at caring for others. During her time at Lankenau Hospital in Pennsylvania, one of her patients was a woman who had a son that was single. That woman went home and told her son about Patricia and he began to write to her. He was definitely her type--tall, dark & handsome. They wrote letters for a year or so and he proposed to her in a letter by asking her if she wanted to go to Colorado with him since he was to be transferred to Lowry Airforce Base in Denver. She married John Conable of Galeton, PA on July 3, 1960 and they headed for Denver. Patricia worked some at St. Anthony’s Central Hospital until they started a family and she chose to be a stay-at-home-mom while her children were young. Patricia and John had 4 children—Seth, Mark, Jonelle & Pam. She was dedicated to her kids in all aspects of their lives. As her kids got a little older, she earned money selling Avon door-to-door for a few years. In 1979 she decided to go back to nursing and worked for dermatologist, Dr. Robert Wright, at Denver Dermatology and after 20 years retired from his practice in 1999. After her retirement, she enjoyed time with her grandchildren and they enjoyed her. Her family meant the world to her and being around them is what made her happy.
Patricia was desirous that all her children would be taught life values from God’s Word from the time they were very young. She was faithful to have her children at church on Sundays and Wednesdays. She prayed for her children regularly. She offered to pay for their college education if they went to a Bible college that further prepared and taught them to lean on God throughout life of which 3 of them took her up on her offer.
Patricia is survived by her children Seth and his wife Elizabeth; Jonelle and her husband Enrique; Pam and her husband John; Mark’s wife, Penny; her brother, Richard Young; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John; her son, Mark; her brothers, Jack & Ted; her mother, Eleanor, and 3 grandchildren.
A memorial service in Patricia’s honor will be held Saturday, October 24 at 10:00a.m. at Tri-City Baptist Church in Westminster, CO. In lieu of flowers, she was a dog lover through and through so any donations will go to Foothills Animal Shelter in Lakewood, CO.
