Obituary

Obituary for Royce W Brimberry

Royce W. Brimberry, 91, Arvada, CO

Passed away peacefully at home on October 31st. He joins his wife of 63 years (Diana Brimberry) in heaven, who passed away earlier this year.

Royce was born in Kerens, TX on December 23, 1928 to Elmer and Eula Brimberry. He grew up in Houston with his sister, Yvonne and 3 brothers, Elmer, Boyce and Robert. He graduated from Lamar High School. He studied Animal Husbandry and Finance at Texas A&M University where he graduated in 1951. After college, he served in the Air Force as a first lieutenant in the Korean war. He received several medals and after honorable discharge, he started a career in the consumer finance business where he worked his entire career. As a district and regional manager for American Finance Company, the teams he managed were always on top or near the top of the leader board for generating mortgages, commercial and consumer loans. In his personal life, he was a kind, even keeled man who took great pride in his family. He was an avid bowler, poker player and sports fan. He enjoyed gardening and always offered family and friends plenty of fruit and vegetables out of his huge garden. It was also well known to everyone who knew him that he always carried plenty of snacks in his jacket pocket.

In 1957, Royce met Diana Lorenz at a dance in Denver, Colorado and it was love at first sight. They were married soon after. Soon to follow were their two sons Daniel Royce (1958) and Jerald Lee (1960).

Dan and his wife Sue still live in the metro area. Their adult children Tiffany and Brandon also live in the Denver area. Tiffany also has a daughter, Lyla who is a 4th generation Coloradoan. Jerry and his wife Mary live in Glendale, AZ. Jerry has two stepchildren, Jaime and Nellie; and three step grandchildren James, Waylon and Killian.

Royce is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Diana, his sister Yvonne and his brothers Elmer and Boyce.

A military burial service will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, at 11:15 AM on Tuesday, November 10. To attend, arrive at the funeral entrance on South Sheridan, staging area C at 11:00 AM.

Due to COVID restrictions, we have not made any reception arrangements, but would like to get together with small groups of friends and family, either before or after the services. You can contact us (Dan, Sue, Jerry, Mary) or we will contact you.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send donations to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Beth Sheehan (Larsen)

Jerry and Dan and families, John and I were so so sorry to hear about your Dad and your Mom too. John and I saw your Mom and Dad about 6 years ago when we went with them to see my Dad while he was in the assisted living place. We had the nicest visit with them. We have so many fond memories of you guys and us Larsens through the years like playing Hide and Seek on those late summer nights with all the neighborhood kids while our Moms and Dads were having a good ole time drinking at each other’s houses. I also remember going over to your house for Mexican food. Your parents will be missed. I found this pic of your Dad sweeping snow off his car with what else? A broom. 🙂I think it’s from that blizzard of ‘82. Sending hugs to you guys. You guys are in our thoughts and prayers. You hang in there. Love, Beth and John Sheehan
