Rudy Michael Lopez, 59, passed away January 12 at the University of Colorado Hospital - Anschutz in his beloved city of Denver.
He was born January 12, 1960, in Greeley, Colorado to Floyd and Mary Lopez. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Rudy was an avid fan of the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos and enjoyed playing and watching golf. He enjoyed cooking dinners for his father, particularly Asian food. But his favorite foods were tacos and beans.
He had a great love for words, and reading and writing poetry. He was intrigued by Carl Sagan, which led to his fascination of the cosmos and the science of astronomy. He was granted one of his most significant dreams on August 21, 2017; to witness a total solar eclipse.
Rudy is survived by his daughter, Kayleigh Marie Lopez (Alexander) of Centennial, Colorado; father, Floyd Lopez, Sr.; brother, Floyd (Debbie) Lopez; sisters, June (Paul) Wood, Lisa Howell and Debbie (Todd) Jones, all of Cheyenne; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lopez; and his grandparents.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on January 24, 2019 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Reception will follow at the Moose Lodge.
