SARAH JOANN MORRIS
June 23, 1939 – Oct 29, 2018

Sarah “Joann” (Boston) Morris was born on June 23, 1939 to William Boston and Francis
Ellen (Southers) Boston in Brush Colorado. She was the first of three children: Sister Janice and
Brother Robert.

Joann grew up in Fort Morgan, Colorado and graduated from Fort Morgan High School
in June of 1957. She was ranked 10th in her class of 144 Students. While in high school she
learned to play the accordion and her loved ones have fond memories of hearing her play. She
participated in Choir and enjoyed rolling skating. She attended Morgan Community College and
earned her Associate of Applied Science with emphasis in Secretarial Science. She was awarded
the Who’s Who Among Students in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplishment.

In 1957 Joann was married to Alvin Horton and to this union two children were born:
Glynda and Bill. After divorcing, Joann met and married Gene Morris in September 1961. Gene
had two children from his first marriage, Barbara and JoAnne, both of whom were adopted by
Joann. Likewise, Gene adopted Glynda and Bill. Two children were born into the family of
Joann and Gene: John and Gayle, thus creating “Yours, Mine and Ours” all in one family. From
these children there are now 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Although she lived in Fort Morgan for the majority of her life, she also resided in
Lincoln, NE; Malcolm, NE; Elko, NV; Greeley, CO and most recently Brush, CO.

During her lifetime, Joann worked as a school bus driver, bookkeeper, secretary,
daycare provider, and she worked to help implement the Medicare D Program. By far her
favorite occupation was her daycare. She loved each and every one of the children that she
cared for. Joann’s hobbies included camping, square dancing, bowling and visiting family and
friends.

She will always be remembered by her family and friends as a caring and giving person.
