Obituary for Violet Georgia Tyler

Violet Georgia Tyler, 90, passed early on the morning of Wednesday, April 24th, 2019, after a short battle with cancer in Denver, CO. She was a loving mother and friend who enjoyed dancing, ice skating, Avalanche hockey, Scrabble games, mystery novels, movies and opera, especially Italian tenors. The hospital staff referred to her as “Miss Violet” and were amazed at how she remembered everyone's names.

Violet was born and lived the early part of her life in Buffalo, New York. She worked for an insurance office and department store before her marriage in 1949 to Dennis Tyburski. After the birth of their first child in 1958, Dennis and Violet changed the family name to Tyler. The family frequently moved to follow Dennis’ work, living in Cincinnati, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Houston, Texas, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada, before finally settling in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where Violet lived for sixteen years.

After raising a family, Violet divorced in 1984 and went back to school to study cosmetology. After obtaining her license, Violet worked for a nursing home beauty shop for several years. In 1992, Violet moved to Denver to be near her children. She worked in dry-cleaning customer service until she retired.

Violet loved animals. Throughout her long life, she enjoyed the company of her beloved dog Puddles, the family dog Candy, and her cats Dee, Squeak and Prancer.

Those who wish to honor Violet’s life may make a contribution to the Cat Care Society, http://www.catcaresociety.org/how-to-help/donations.

Violet is survived by her daughter Susan, her sons Jim, Mark, and Chuck, her daughter-in-law Jennifer and her son-in-law David.
