Obituary for William Brice Hunt

Print
William Brice Hunt was born May 5, 1972, in Denver, Colo., to Gretchen Ann (Muller) Atkinson and Stephen Garrett Hunt. He passed away after a courageous battle with ALS on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at home in Arvada.

Brice lived in Colorado most of his life. He graduated from Arapahoe High school in 1990, and attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley for a short time, where he studied the theater. He moved south in his 20s, living for a time in Mississippi, where he was a blackjack dealer on riverboat, and then to Baton Rouge, La., where he worked in restaurants and hospitality. He also lived for a short time in Hawaii.

He moved home to Colorado, where he met and married his wife, Autumn (Womac) Hunt. In August 2013, the couple welcomed their first and only child, Declan Boyd.

While back home in the Denver area, Brice worked for several Jason’s Deli restaurants, managing a number of stores over the course of his tenure there. He loved his job and the people he worked with.

Brice was diagnosed with ALS in September 2014, and fought it like a warrior. He and his family worked to raise money for ALS research and continue to support the effort to learn more about this horrible disease in hopes of one day finding a cure.

Brice was a huge fan of the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Rockies and all Denver sports teams. He dearly loved his son, and enjoyed taking Declan for walks to the nearby playground at his home in Arvada. He loved his family and his friends, and his kind and loving spirit was so deeply appreciated by those who knew him and loved him. When he could no longer work, Brice enjoyed the simple pleasures--a cold beer in the garage with family and friends, time spent with his wife watching Declan play in the backyard and taking great joy in being with his loved ones. Shortly after being forced to stop working, Brice and Autumn bought a motorhome and took several months to see the country, visiting family and friends all along the way.

Brice will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Autumn, of Arvada, Colo.; his son Declan, 5, of Arvada, Colo.; his mother, Gretchen Atkinson and step-father Jim Atkinson of Cedaredge, Colo.; his father Stephen Hunt and step-mother Rita Hunt of Whitney, Texas; his brothers Chris, 49, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Andrew Hunt, 42, of Silverthorne, Colo.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Services for Brice are scheduled at Aspen Mortuaries, 6370 Union St., Arvada, Colo., on Sunday, Oct. 7, and 12:30 p.m., at just about halftime of the Broncos-Jets game. Go Broncos!
